During these challenging times, while we are unable to offer face-to-face events, we know there is a deep desire within the mindfulness community for practice and connection.
At the Mindfulness Network, we would like to offer free mindfulness and compassion sessions to anybody who may wish to attend. We have therefore reached out to our network of experienced trainers, supervisors, retreat leads and compassion-based teachers, and have listed available sessions below. Click on the name of the teacher to read more about them.
You do not have to be familiar with mindfulness practice to join. There is no need to register. The sessions are entirely free and should last around 30 minutes. Each session, unless otherwise stated, will include:
- 15-20 minute practice
- 5-10 minute teaching
- A short final practice to end for you to take into your day
These free online practice sessions will be available using Zoom, an online conferencing facility which is free to download. Please download Zoom prior to the session. (It might be helpful to have a test run to see if it works on your device).

Andrea Baqai, Yin Yoga / Mindful Movement

This session is suitable for all ages and all abilities as we deepen our connection with our own bodies and ‘start where we are! The session will start with long held stretches on the mat ( especially beneficial for those of you who do active sport), bringing in attitudes of curiosity, allowing and kindness. There will then be a more dynamic practice but with options for all abilities. We will end with a short sitting practice. Andrea has supplied a lovely introductory session on YouTube.

Gwennie is one of our supervisors and has been offering these ‘Start The Week’ sessions since January 2018. She invites optional donations to West End Foodbank in Newcastle upon Tyne which is the biggest in the UK, as a way of linking practice to wider benefit in the community. Ed is one of our supervisors and has set up these sessions to help people manage their well-being, stay connected and make good choices in the midst of the Coronavirus outbreak. The sessions are offered freely, although he invites optional donations to the National Emergencies Trust Coronavirus Appeal via the Mindfulness Sussex JustGiving Page.
